The Rose Gallery at Reston Community Center at Lake Anne in Reston was the venue for a well-attended presentation by Rich and Marian Taschler on proper home insulation and its mostly unknown benefits.
- Documenting 'Last Lynching in Northern Virginia' - A February 2018 article published by The Connection. Virginia author Jim Hall enthralled a class of 80 at OLLI-GMU on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, with details from his book, “The Last Lynching in Northern Virginia.”
- Fairfax: Less Known Part of Poet's Life - An October 2016 article published by The Connection. Dr. Lesley Lee Francis, the granddaughter of Robert Frost, delivered a presentation to OLLI members at Fairfax Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Dr. Francis told of the first big female influence in Frost’s life: his mother, Scottish immigrant mystic and imaginative storyteller Isabelle (Belle) Moodie Frost. As described by Dr. Francis, another important woman in Frost’s life was Susan Hayes Ward, literary editor of the New York Independent newspaper.
- Fairfax: Those Critters Around Us - A June 2016 article published by The Connection. Fairfax County Wildlife Management Specialist, Dr. Katherine Edwards, delivered a presentation at OLLI-GMU to educate Fairfax residents on how to act appropriately and safely with the county’s surprisingly large and diverse range of wildlife species.
- Fairfax: Search and Rescue Team Comes to OLLI - An April 2016 article published by The Connection. A team from the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue gave a presentation to members at OLLI-GMU on the efforts of their K-9 units. Lt. Scott Schermerhorn led an informative session, and Technician Paul Serzan handled Angus, a black lab, in a doggy demo in the field behind TA-3.

- Burke: Marsden Speaks on Future of Local Transportation - A December 2015 article published by The Connection. Virginia State Senator David Marsden spoke to more than 80 community members on Monday, December 7, at an event put on by OLLI-Fairfax. He touched on Interstate 66 tolls, EZ Pass and several future transportation projects in Virginia, including additional Virginia Railway Express stations and the extension of HOT lanes on Interstate 95.
- Summer Fun for Adults - An April 2015 article published by The Connection. Jennifer Disano describes the OLLI summer trips to the National Gallery of Art, the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens, and The Franciscan Monastery. The article also covers the summer classes offered by OLLI at that time.
- Look! Up in the Sky! - An October 2014 article by The Connection. Christopher Vo presented a lecture titled “Drones: Our New Toys, Tools, and Robot Companions.” Rich Goodwyn joined Vo and assisted with the demonstrations of flying drones. OLLI-GMU member Martha Powers coordinated this event.
- Sunny with a Chance of Learning - A June 2014 article published by The Connection. One hundred and forty-two people attended a seminar delivered by NBC Washington meteorologist Amelia Segal at the Church of Good Shepherd in Burke on Friday, June 13. The class was called "A Day in the Life of a Meteorologist."
- Osher Lifelong Learning - The New Retirement - A June 2008 article published by The Connection describes the OLLI organization, its benefits for older adults, and programs/courses as they existed in the summer of 2008.
